This little frog on a lily pad is a quick and easy pattern. As I was putting together the lily pad, I ended up frogging it (ironically) a few times, so please let me know if it doesn’t come out as you expect and I can update the pattern.
I apologise that there are not many pictures with this pattern. I was too excited to post it to my friend that I didn’t get much of a photography session in.
What you need
- Crochet hook: 4.5mm, 3.5mm
- Stitch markers
- Stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- 10mm safety eyes
- Dark green, light green, white and black yarn (DK)

- Do not join, turn so working on the wrong side. 2 sc x4 (8)
- Do not join, turn. [2 sc, sc] x4 (12)
- Do not join, turn. Sc around (12). Leave a tail for sewing. You should end up with a semicircle.
Make two in light green and two in white.
Sew the curved edges of the green and the white semicircles together. Keep the green piece on top of the white piece so there is a little overlap. You will end up with a dome. Do not sew the dome closed. Add the safety eye to the white section.
Legs
- 4 sc in magic circle (4)
- 2 sc x4 (8)
- Sc around (8)
- Sc around (8)
- [Sc dec, sc x2] x2 (6)
- Rows 6-10. Sc around (6). Leave a tail for sewing.
- To make the fingers use 3.5mm hook, pick up a st in row 1 then pick up 2 sts in row 2. Sc to the first st you picked up and then carry on going around until you have a mini tube. Repeat 2 more times to make 3 fingers.
Make 2.

To assemble, refer to the pictures, I recommend the following order:
- Stuff the eyes and sew them onto the head
- Sew the head onto the lilypad
- Sew the legs to the base of the head
- With black yarn sew on nostrils and a mouth
Thanks for this cute pattern. I am gonna make some of these.
